Baseband CPU shortened (U_BB_RF)

Hi,

I was repairing a water damaged iphone 6 when i removed the short on PP_VCC_MAIN, i restored it because of the passcode on it. After restoring i noticed that i couldn’t activate the phone, so i discovered a short on VREG_SMPS1_0v90 and when i removed the baseband cpu, the short was gone. How can i repair it or bypass activation ? thanks

There is not much you can do if the short is in the baseband IC itself. What you can try is to inject voltage into that line or pad on the IC. This sometimes burns the short out, at this stage you have nothing to lose.

@anthony10006 No the baseband CPU cannot be replaced as it is married to the CPU. You will need to get the short out to have a working phone.

I don’t know how much voltage you should inject. Usually if a 4V circuit has a short and you inject 4V into it only 1 or 2 volts might be going into the shorted component. You should start with 1V and increase as needed. This method doesn’t have a good success rate but as I said you have nothing to lose.

Okay I’m gonna test this thanks

@anthony10006 As I said, this method doesn’t have a good success rate. Unfortunately there is nothing else you can do .
