Western Digital (WD) Solid State Drive (SSD) Available in 2.5” 7mm and M.2 2280 models 120GB or 240GB

Does all WD Green SSD come with SanDisk Chip?

I just saw a cheap WD Green SSD on some e-commerce website. But someone in the review section says, inside the SSD, it doesn’t contain “SanDisk” labeled chip. Is that fake? or there can be genuine WD Green SSD(s) without “SanDisk” chip?

I’m not sure I follow your question, what I can tell you is SanDisk is part of Western Digital as of 2016.

Even still Western Digital may buy chips from other vendors to create their products besides SanDisk. These maybe controllers and support chips. Its also possible the flash chips are not marked with a vendor ID in the image.

So is your drive real or a knockoff? Without more information its hard to say.

If the price is too good to be true then it probably is not a good choice.

Shop around and compare.

Not necessarily fake. WD (Western Digital) owns SanDisk, so many WD Green SSDs do use SanDisk-labeled NAND chips-but not always. WD sources components based on availability and cost, so it's possible to get a genuine WD Green SSD with NAND chips from other suppliers, or unlabeled ones.

As long as you buy from a trusted seller and the packaging, serial number, and performance check out, it’s likely genuine-even without a visible SanDisk chip.
