Why is my new iMac video card not working
Hi all,
I have an early 2008 24” iMac, top of the line with a 3.06GHz Core 2 DuoCPU and NVIDIA GeForce 8800 GS GPU.
The issue is that when I turn it on I get nothing on the display at all. It also takes the Mac a few attempts to power on (what I mean by this is that when you press the power button you can hear The Superdrive starting up, the fans start for a second and then the Mac powers off for a second, and then powers itself back on. It does this twice or thrice until it successfully powers on with nothing on the LCD and the fans at 100%)
The problem I’m having is that after buying a Radeon 2600 Pro to replace my old dead GPU board, nothing happens. No fans nor is the SuperDrive spinning. I went to check the diagnostic LED’s: 1 is always on, 2 and 3 are blinking every few seconds and LED 4 is off.
When I remove the GPU board altogether or add my old 8800 GS back in to the system, the fans go completely full blast. At this point All Diagnostic LEDs are lit except for LED 4. Does anyone know what’s going on here?
Thanks In Advance, Kyle
Edit: just noticed that the when the LED flashes momentarily you can also see the fans move a very slight bit, so i believe it’s trying to power on but there’s something stopping it
Это хороший вопрос?
