Yes I’ve pressed all the buttons that is in the instruction book, and no I’m not hard of hearing, I would just like to listen to a CD and to be able hear an audible sound.

try a different set of headphones, also check the connection and make sure its fully seated.

Does altering the volume control do anything to the loudness?
Have you tried another CD just in case the CD is the problem?
