I try to update to the new W10 update but it freezes at 42 or 48%, so I restart it and it goes slower when I have to do that.

What version of Windows 10 are you trying to update to? Do you have your C drive backed up?

v20H2 and no I don't.

How long have you waited before you do a hard shut down?

из

@areeve Maybe 2 hours and why should that matter?

If you have the same issue I did, I got lucky with a solution after some Google searching. For some reason, completely deleting the drivers of the display adapter for the amd FirePro allowed me to get beyond the first Windows 10 update/install (1507). With each feature update to 20h2 and eventually 22h2 I had to keep deleting it. The 22h2 update was a little more direct after I did an update instead from Microsoft that allowed me to update with an installer instead of Windows update. During that I kept device manage up so I could keep deleting the amd drivers for that display adapter as they kept installing.

After getting 22h2 installed I let Dell command update to the most recent amd drivers it has for that display adapter, think the drivers were from Dec of 2022. Good luck!

I would first back up your main Hard Drive/SSD. Then download the update assistant from here. Go through and select the latest Windows update available and install it.
