Need a case to hold my internal SSD

Please, I have the following 2015 Macbook pro with a 1TB ssd drive:

MacBook Pro (Retina, 13-inch, Early 2015)

  • 3.1 GHz Intel Core i7
  • 16 GB 1867 MHz DDR3
  • Intel Iris Graphics 6100 1536 MB
  • The SSD drive says on it (approximately—hard to read):
    • Model MZ-KPV1 TOO/OA8, 1TB SSUBX 655-1860J, *DN1530606RLGV39AA*, MSIP-REM-SEC-MZ-KPV1 TOO. Samsung 2015.07

Because of internal water damage, it is not making proper contact. Apple told me the drive is OK, and pulled it out, suggesting I use an external SSD enclosure. I’ve ordered 2 they recommended though, and they are not compatible—the pins don’t line-up, and there a little ridge that doesn’t line-up correctly.

Can anyone please recommend/send a link to a compatible external ssd enclosure? Thunderbolt 2 would be the first preference, for speed, and to free-up one of the usb ports. If not, perhaps a Thunderbolt 3 enclosure, then maybe I can use an Apple Thunderbolt 3 to 2 adapter? If not, just a usb version.

Thanks so much—I’m really stuck!

@computerguylost - Sadly, there is no Thunderbolt-3 or USB-C case to hold your drive, these are the only units:

  • OWC ENVOY PRO 1A which is a USB-A (USB 3.0) case. Then you can use an adapter to connect to a USB-C based system.
  • Transcend JetDrive 855 case which is a Thunderbolt-1/2 case. Then using a Thunderbolt-2 to Thunderbolt-3 (USB-C) adapter you can then plug your SSD into any of the newer M series systems.
