Please take a look at the drive interface and make sure it is SATA and not IDE. Manufacturers can change configurations on computer models. Look up on web for photos if you don't know the difference.

This model reportedly uses SATA 1, also known as SATA 1.5 Gbit/s or SATA 150, which is the first generation of SATA interfaces and was released in 2003. Its actual uncoded transfer rate is 1.2 Gbit/s (150 MB/s), and it supports the communication rates of up to 1.5 Gbit/s.

However, SATA 1 doesn’t support Native Command Queuing (NCQ). What is that? Native command queuing (NCQ) is a technology enabling SATA hard drives to accept more than one command at a time by optimizing the order in which read and write commands are executed. This increases the performance of the drive by limiting the number of drive head movements when multiple read/write requests are queued.

Your problem will be finding a SATA drive that supports SATA 1. Many new drive only support SATA 2 or 3.
