Bought a battery from you, installed it. It won't charge.

Did both of those but nothing showed as being a problem.

@nealpender If you read this guide, it details how to update your original question with new images, which makes for easier reading.

In your Coconut screenshot, it says that the power adapter is not connected? Do you have any way of testing the power adapter and the power chord(s)? Fex another USB-C powered MacBook or PC? That way we could rule out the power equipment as faulty.

If the power adapter and -chord tests OK, I would take out the new battery and install the old one and start the Mac. Check Coconut to see if it still says that power adapter is not connected.

I plugged the power adapter into my iPad. It started charging immediately.

Something else I remembered. Several months ago I spilled Powerade on the keyboard and immediately picked up the Mac and shook it out. It kept working and even before that spill, my battery would sometimes lose charge all the way and not start up again for awhile. But it would eventually. Then the spill happened and nothing changed really.

But I did notice when I was replacing the battery, a couple small areas of corrosion and some gummy residue from the Powerade. I cleaned the corrosion with isopropyl and Qtips, but since the battery replacement didn’t require taking the entire motherboard out, I didn’t turn it over to see if there is further corrosion.

After reading up more today, I’m thinking it could be that since that spill several months ago, the corrosion has built up enough to cause some sort of interruption in the charging circuits? Does that sound logical?

What would be a fix for corrosion?
