I broke my lid board

Hi Jughead,

It seems pretty definite that the part will have to be soldered back on; the good news is from what I can tell the circuit board traces are intact so fixing it won't require adding jumper wires or reconnecting broken traces.

However, you're not going to be able to solder it back on the way it is; that small board that came off (the "lid board" as you call it) will get in the way of trying to get a soldering iron on the pins. I'm not familiar with your system at all, but if I had to guess, I'd say that black plastic piece holding the five circuit board contacts will need to be separated from the lid board in order to do the soldering. I can't tell how that comes apart from the picture, though; it may just need to be pried apart carefully or it may require melting solder, depending on what's holding it in place in the lid board.

Once it's been removed, add a little flux to the traces and set the connector in place. Hold it down and tack one or two of the legs with a soldering iron then proceed to resolder the rest of the pins. Reattach the lid board (however you have to do it) and you're done!

Of course, if you're not confident in your soldering ability, then it would be best to find a local electronics repair shop to fix this for you. It should only take them a very few minutes and I can't imagine they'd charge very much for that kind of fix.
