Will the 2015 13” MacBook Pro motherboard boot on its own?

I found a 2015 13” MacBook Pro motherboard used for $50 USD and I was wondering if it can boot on its own with an external monitor

  • CPU: Intel i5
  • RAM: 8GB
  • SSD is included (120GB)

I was thinking that you could 3D print a box for it and use as "DIY Mac mini".

Was hoping to run Xcode on it and develop IOS apps. Is it to old to run Xcode?

I wish it was so simple! There are quite a few additional parts needed like keyboard, MagSafe DC connector, display assembly & battery (all MacBook Pro 2015).

Basically, you are emulating the main case to hold all the pieces!

In the end you might find locating the pieces easier. But that also assumes the logic board is good. At least you have the I/O bd with its cable and SSD. Review these guides which also offer the rest of the needed parts

As far as Xcode - the amount of RAM may limit how big a project will compile or just consume a lot of time.
