MB Air is not turning, battery is charged but sounds like a short

Please help! My Air was off for about a month and when I tried to put it on again, nothing happened. When I charged it the red light showed for about an hour and then the green light appeared, fully charged. The screen remains black. I tried to force start it many times but nothing is happening except for a soft strange noise coming the top left corner where you plug in the battery. It sounds like there is a short. It sounds like a radio that is not picking up any signal and it lasts for about a second or two every 10 seconds or so. Can anyone please advise?

It sounds like the fan keeps trying to spin up but then the system powers down, and that it's stuck in a boot loop. You should try an SMC reset if you haven't already. With the charger connected, hold Shift, Control, and Option on the left hand side of the keyboard, and while these are held press the power button. Hold all the keys down for a brief moment, then release the power button, then release the other keys. If the charging light is orange you may see it momentarily turn green. Now attempt to power on the computer by pressing the power button. If this doesn't work, try disconnecting and reconnecting the battery. If that doesn't work, you probably have a larger hardware issue and will need to do some more advanced troubleshooting.

Thank you Zachary.

Yes, a friend also said it sounds like the fan. I have tried the following by pressing all the keys down at the same time:

• Control + Cmd + Power

• Control + Option + Cmd + Power

• Shift + Control + Option + Power

Also:

• Option + Cmd + p + r all at the same time and then after 10 seconds the power button.

No response and no other sound like a chime or anything at all coming out of it.

I’m going to get a P5 pentalobe screwdriver and see if I could disconnect the battery, then put it on and off, and then connect the battery again.
