I've got a steam controller and I want to open it up, however all guides I've seen have you break the sticker on the back of the steam controller to access three screws .
Is there a way that I can access those screws without permanently damaging the sticker on the back?

heat with a hair dryer until you can use maybe a pair of tweezers or thin blade to lift it up, but by any means do not think it will keep it under warranty, if it has a fault and still under warranty send it back for repair or replacement
