82" Samsung TV, No picture (Not Tcon Board)

Television: 82" Samsung 4K LED (Model: QN82Q65FNB)

THE PROBLEM:

Approximately 1 week ago I started getting a 1 pixel wide horizontal black line across the entire screen. This line was towards the bottom of the screen and would come and go randomly. The line was solid didn't move or flicker in any way. The other day while watching a show I saw horizontal lines appear from top to bottom as black started from the center and the whole picture dissolved to the edges, it took less than 2 seconds for this to happen and almost looked like a dissolve effect like you'd see available in movie editing software. Since then all I see is a black screen with light visible behind almost like a screen that is ON but on a sort of standby (if that makes sense).

TROUBLESHOOTING:

From here I attempted a few troubleshooting techniques found online to reboot the tv. For example, unplugging the power and letting it sit for an hour then plugging it back in. I checked all cables and connections are all good. I plugged in a spare tv to make sure the cables work as well. I also did the flashlight test, no image was visible.

Knowing that my television was done for, I decided to move on to a more invasive troubleshooting by removing the back and checking the boards for any obvious damage. I didn't see any. The LED strips are all working, I'm sure that is the light that I can see from the screen. Moving on, I unplugged all of the connections and plugged them back in to make sure everything was seated properly. No change. While unplugged I checked all of the ribbon cables and didn't notice any obvious damage to the contacts or ribbon itself. Next I unplugged the ribbons that go from the display to the Tcon board and plugged them back in one at a time and then in multiple ways and variations as well to try and get some type of image on the screen but still nothing worked.

I noticed that on the Tcon board there are a couple of blue LED lights and I noticed that when plugging in the power cord to the TV. One of the LED lights is solid and the other quickly flashes on then turns off.

After searching the internet for hours I decided that there is a high probability that I need to replace the Tcon board so I ordered one online and replaced it when it arrived. The new Tcon board did not change anything, those blue LED lights on the new Tcon board still behave the same and I'm not getting any picture on the TV.

QUESTION:

Does anyone know what the problem could possibly be? I'm trying to decide if it is possibly the main board or if the display entirely is just dead. Any input or suggestions are appreciated. Thank you.

Hi @oneeyebear

I checked your troubleshooting and it helped me narrow down the problem, I think it's your Display since the main board seems fine and you attempted to replace the Tcon board to solve the problem with no success.

Curious to learn of the further development! Cheers!
