A Lithium Ion battery can take up to eight hour to fully charge if completely discharged. A new battery will have some charge in it and often only takes about four hours.

You do need to see what’s happening using CoconutBattery and monitoring the MagSafe cords LED. Post a snapshot of the Apps main window and tell us what’s happening with the MagSafe LED.
