Hi Stephan,

I'm going on the assumption that even though you didn't really come out and say so, your screen has failed and needs to be replaced. If that's the case, read on; otherwise never mind, you can quit reading now.

Your phone is similar to many other Android phones in that there are two ways to replace the screen. You can buy the LCD by itself or with the frame already attached. The price different is generally minimal, but the replacement procedure is entirely different between the two variations.

If you buy the display by itself, you basically have to take the phone apart far enough to disconnect the screen, then separate the LCD from the frame. After that, you will clean off the old adhesive from the frame and apply new glue to secure the replacement display. Generally you have to clamp the screen on or rubber band it together for a certain amount of time while the glue dries.

I didn't find any written step-by-step iFixit style guides for your phone, but there are plenty of YouTube videos available. Here's one that shows you the screen-only replacement procedure.

The screen itself, being older LCD technology is surprisingly inexpensive; the first one that came up for me on Amazon was under $25 USD. You can find them on Amazon, eBay and AliExpress among others.

Keep in mind that one is for the screen-only replacement procedure; in addition to the display you'll need some glue, something like 90% or higher isopropyl alcohol to clean the frame, and a sheet of precut adhesive to glue the rear cover back on.

The other way to do this repair is to buy the screen already glued to the frame. What that means is you'll basically have to gut your old phone and move all the parts inside it to the replacement frame. This is actually the recommended/preferred way to do it and although it sounds a bit daunting, it's actually not that bad of a process. Believe me, it's a lot easier than the same procedure would be on an iPhone! Here's a video showing that procedure instead.

I didn't go searching for a screen plus frame assembly to go with this video; I'll leave that as an exercise for the reader. :) Just make sure your model number matches and it specifies that it comes with the frame. I'll probably cost you a couple bucks more, but that's almost certainly offset by the fact that you don't also have to buy glue for it.

There you go; take a look through those videos and pick the one that you feel most comfortable with. They both have pros and cons, so I can't really tell you which one is going to be better for you, but now you have all the information you need and can make an informed decision.

Best of luck with your repair, and let us know how it turns out!
