Non call related audio sounds muffled while on a call

Whenever I'm in any kind of phone call (cellular, Discord, Zoom, Skype, Google Meet, etc.) all of my phone's other audio sounds super muffled. For example: I just got off of a Discord call, and for about 45 seconds after I hung up, my music streaming app sounded like it had the same audio compression as the call, until it just suddenly popped back to normal. This happens no matter what, but Discord specifically causes it to persist for a while after the call ends. This has happened to me with every Android device I've owned, and I was wondering if anyone could enlighten me as to why this occurs and/or tell me any ways to fix it, settings I can change, etc. Thanks!
