Hi Mark,

In my experience on here, when someone asks if the glass can be replaced, they are usually referring to the possibility of replacing the front glass separately from the LCD/OLED display. Unfortunately virtually all modern phones have the front glass/digitizer bonded to the display with something called OCA, or Optically Clear Adhesive.

Generally it takes specialized equipment and expertise to successfully separate the old glass from the display, and then yet more equipment (such as a vacuum chamber and a UV chamber) to bond the display to a new front glass.

Due to the requirements, it's generally not considered cost effective to attempt that replacement, and in addition even experienced technicians can't always guarantee a successful separation and bonding. If that's the sort of thing you're considering, you will need to set your expectations accordingly and assume you probably won't get it right on your first try. Given that you can buy a complete screen for around $25 USD, it really doesn't even make financial sense to attempt a glass replacement. Here's an example I ran across on Amazon; you can also find screens for sale on places like eBay and AliExpress.

Amazon.com: for Samsung Galaxy A14 5G - Screen Replacement LCD Full Assembly Kit with Frame - Galaxy A14 5G Display Digitizer Touch - Compatible with SM-A146, SM-A146U, SM-A146U1, SM-A146U1/DS (US Version) : Cell Phones & Accessories

If I haven't dissuaded you from attempting a glass only replacement, all I can say is, good luck; I hope it works out for you. Otherwise let's talk about the normal procedure of replacing the whole screen.

On your phone, as is common for Samsung products, the preferred and recommended method is to replace the screen and midframe together as a single assembly. The advantage here is that you don't have to worry about cleaning all the old adhesive off the frame or glue the replacement screen onto the frame, which requires clamping and care to ensure it is sealed all the way around. The disadvantage is you have to remove all of the components inside the phone and transfer them to the new screen+frame assembly, but the thing is, the phone is designed so that the procedure is fairly straight-forward. It is far easier than the same sort of housing swap would be on an iPhone, for instance.

The video Matt linked to shows a screen+frame replacement, as does this written guide I located on the French site SOSav. Of course, it's in French, but if you use it with the Chrome browser the automatic translation makes it quite usable no matter what your native language is.

Réparation Bloc écran Galaxy A14 (5G) - Guide gratuit - SOSav.fr

Note that the Amazon link I listed earlier offers both the screen alone and the screen+frame assembly; for either of the guides listed you'll want the screen+frame assembly. You can save a couple of bucks buying just the screen without the frame, but you're going to make that up by having to buy adhesive. If you do decide you want to do the screen only replacement you will need a separate guide, since it requires a different procedure; locating that guide is an exercise left to the reader.

Hopefully you know everything you need to about replacing your screen now, so good luck and let us know how it goes!
