The Volkswagen Tiguan is a compact crossover SUV that offers a sleek design, comfortable ride, and ample cargo space.

Where is the transmission fluid located?

Where do you put transmission fluid?

Ответ на этот вопрос У меня та же проблема

Hey there Doreen, which year of Tiguan?

Well “Tiguan” and “transmission” is hardly specific at all, what region, what year and what trim it is, different productions may use different transmissions.

If it’s a DCT it could have two separate pockets of transmission fluids, otherwise it’s just one.

I have the Tiguan MQB so 2018-2021ish.

Transmission fluid pan is under the car near the plastic oil pan.

Here’s my notes I had in my phone…

Oil change Every 75K to 80K (VW claims “lifetime”)

Transmission Pan Gasket

Transmission Filter $35

Crush washer for drain (don’t really need)

7.4 Liters of ATP Fluid (2 gallons) $60 (I ended up using 1 gallon and returned the second)

Pressure filler

T-20

10mm

  • Remove plastic panel with Torx bits
  • Use 5mm Allen to remove drain plug and let drain into pan
  • Use 5mm Allen to remove plastic standpipe inside drain so rest of fluid comes out (don’t lose it!)
  • Unbolt Oil Pan
  • Clean Oil Pan
  • Replace Gasket
  • Remove oil filter bolts
  • Remove filter, fluid will come out! Watch for o-ring
  • Insert new filter with o-ring and bolt back in.
  • Bolt pan back on
  • Screw the plastic standpipe back in
  • You’ll need a special nozzle that screws into the drain plug. Screw that in and connect the fill hose for the hand pump.
  • Insert your hand pump into the ATF and pump in
  • Carefully remove hose connection and quickly insert drain plug

The transmission fluid is stored inside your car's transmission, but you can't directly access it there. To check the fluid level, you'll need to locate the transmission fluid dipstick.

This dipstick is usually found under the hood of your car and resembles the engine oil dipstick. The exact location can vary depending on your car's make and model:

  • In-line engine with rear-wheel drive: Look towards the rear of the engine, near where it meets the transmission.
  • Front-wheel drive: Look near the engine oil dipstick, often on the right side or close to the battery.

If you're unsure where to find it, consult your car's owner's manual for specific instructions. They will also detail the process of checking the transmission fluid level and topping it up if needed.

And is one of those few things that we don't change in modern cars.

Probably not helping here with your AI generated information, since most VW transmissions are considered sealed units and do not have a dipstick. In addition, Doreen wasn't asking about checking the fluid level, but rather wanting to know where to add fluid.

We'll have to wait for her to give us more information about the specifics of her vehicle, but it's a fairly safe bet that determining the fluid level is far more involved than just checking a dipstick. I know on my New Beetle it's a nightmare with a whole sequence of requirements to be met; level ground, a specific temperature, etc.

AI is really not impressing me at all. Only good thing I can say is, it looks pretty and great spelling. Content is extremely weak and not helpful for any question. Just some mediocre technobabble, regurgitated stuff it finds under Google and Bing.
