Phone not able to hold charge

Hi,

I have a Galaxy Z flip 4 that is displaying a strange behavior. When plugged to the power it works fine and it charges no problem.

When I unplug it it turns off and doesn't turn back on until I plug it back.

Now the interesting thing is that when it's turning on and I unplug the cable, it ends up turning back on and works fine until I fold it, then it turns back off.

I can't turn it back on unless I plug it back to the power.

I thought it was battery problem, I changed both batteries but still have same problem.

Any ideas?

Hi,

It seems you are not the only one with this issue, Samsung Community has a lot of people who are experiencing this same issue.

https://eu.community.samsung.com/t5/gala...

You didn’t mention if the problem was there before or after the battery replacement so it’s not clear if it will be the same problem exactly or whether there is a need (after the battery replacement) to enter reset mode and clear the cache first to see if that changes the situation.

Alternatively you can power off but select safe mode to see if it runs without the issue, if it does then you’ll need to identify the app that is causing the problem & remove it.

Another option would be to make sure you running the latest software update.

If either of those don’t resolve the problem then your last ditch effort would be to do a factory reset and if that doesn’t cure it then you may have the flex issue that is mentioned in the link.

Hope this helps

It is not an app issue because we did a factory reset already and the problem was still present.

Thank you for your answer. Actually, the problem was there before changing battery. I changed the battery because I thought that was the problem.

Sorry to hear that, I’m presuming now that it will be the flex issue that has affected other Flip users and you may need to take to repairer.

This is not something I can change myself?

Perhaps you can, as far as I’m aware it has something to do with the flex mode sensor failing.

But you would need to verify this before ordering any parts, you could research some more online forums for others that have the same issue, or get an assessment at a repair shop.
