Hard drive is making a clicking noise

Lately my iMac's HD has been making a "clicking" noise intermittently - is it on the verge of failing? When the issue begins my iMac freezes until the noise stops. I've ran several SMART tests with a 100% pass rate.

Should I replace it before it fails? Or is there anything else I can do to diagnose and/or fix the issue?

Sounds like a bad hard drive to me. Your machine is under warranty so take it in ASAP after you have backed up your data.

Hi David,

Your hard drive is producing clicking sound, this might be due to any physical damage received.
Take the data back up immediately, either image it or clone the drive.
But, if your drive is inaccessible then run a Mac data recovery software to get back your files. You can download a data recovery Mac software to do this - http://www.stellarinfo.com/mac-data-reco...
Avoid any further experiment or diagnosis of your drive until and unless you are expertise enough to do so.
