A compact 35mm SLR introduced by Pentax in 1980. It was an upgrade to the Pentax ME and was targeted towards advanced amateur photographers.

Why does my Pentax ME super fires only at 1\125?

I'm trying to fix my ME Super which would only shoot at 1/125 (I tested the speed), the internals look fine with no trace of corrosion and the meter seems to work properly in various light conditions, but in manual mode or AUTO no matter what speed I set the camera would only fire at 1/125. Any help is appreciated

Often the electro magnet which holds the closing curtain gets dirty so the bar across it doesn't hold. Do you have a copy of the service manual?

On mine all I had to do is replace the battery. These cameras are designed for the shutter to continue to work on 1/125 sec even though the battery is dead.

That is also correct! But that would me the built-in meter was also not working. Here the meter is working meaning the battery is working.
