I was listening to it in my car for a couple of hours then turned it off. A few minutes later, I tried to plug it into my Ihome but noticed it wouldn't turn on or charge. I took it out and retried to turn it on but with no success. When I press the buttons, they will make the normal clicking noise but my iPod will still not charge or work.

jon, check your dock connector and see that all the pins are straight, no broken or corroded pins. Try a reset by :
1. Toggle the Hold switch on and off. (Slide it to Hold, then turn it off again.)
2. Press and hold the Menu and Center (Select) buttons simultaneously until the Apple logo appears, about 6 to 8 seconds. You may need to repeat this step.
It does sound like your battery is no longer accepting or holding a charge. You may have to change it. Follow these guides to work on your iPod. Hope this helps, good luck.
