01502837 Reed Switch Gen 2 Installation

These are the instructions on how to install the new reed switch for the Ballymore PSL. This is the second generation, replacing 01500651 Reed Switch.

This part is ordered when the alarm fails to sound when the platform entry gate is opened.

Шаг 1 Disconnect

Lift should be off.
Open access panel where reed switch is located. Use an Allen wrench.
Disconnect and remove old reed switch. (with green contact block)
It is necessary to remove aluminum post to remove reed switch from plate.

Шаг 2 Splice

Cut off any existing in line connector on lift side wiring.
Strip wires back as shown below to slide into new butt connectors.

Шаг 3 Crimp

Crimp the butt connectors to the wires that were just prepped.
At this point slide the reed switch mounting bracket over the wires on the lift and then you can start connecting the new reed switch.

Шаг 4 Connect

Connect new reed switch to lift using red butt connectors (included) to crimp wiring.
Red to White and Black to Black.
Pull test crimp connections, redo if needed.

Шаг 5 Apply Heat

Use head gun to melt solder bulb and shrink tubing over connection. Orient butt connector and heat gun such that reed switch is not exposed to heat. You will see the middle section start to flow as it heats up.
It may be helpful to temporarily clamp reed switch plate to gate crossmember to make it easier to insert wire into crimp connector. If switch side wiring has insufficient length to perform rework operation, open black hinged wire route cover and pull more length through.

Шаг 6 Finish

Push wiring back into gate away from reed switch and latch slider.
Reinstall cover plate with Allen head flat head screws.
Use caution when touching the reed switch mounting plate as it may have indirectly been affected by the heat gun during installation.
