As more devices around us become dependent on an internet connection, we need more reliability and/or speed which can be met with a direct internet connection. Overtime, an Ethernet cable can become broken inside the sleeve and stop working from prolonged use. The value of enabling the everyday person to repair these vital cables would lessen the overall downtime they might face and help retain the majority of the cable by only replacing the broken portion. This would reduce overall waste being sent to landfills.

Use a pair of wire cutters to cut the connector head off the cable, cutting one inch away from the breaking point.

Insert the cable into the upper portion of the crimper to strip the outer sleeve of the cable.

Squeeze the handles and rotate the cable to ensure that the sleeve is cut all around.

Remove the crimper and then pull back the sleeving.

Pull the four pairs of cables in different directions at the base to make sure they aren't tangled.

Untwist the paired cables and ensure that they are not tangled at the base.

Straighten the cables as best as you can and fold them back so all eight are all visible.

Use your fingers to squeeze the cables about an inch from the top to keep them in order.

Insert the cables into wire cutters.

Cut all the cables at the end so they are flush together.

Keep squeezing on the cables even after the cut to ensure they maintain the correct order.

While squeezing the newly cut cables, push the cables into the connector. The small grooves inside the piece should guide the cables into the back of the connector in the same order.

Push the cables inside to ensure that they are all the way to the back of the connector. You may need to apply additional force at this step to ensure they are at the end of the connector.

Push the cables inside all the way with force until it does not move any deeper.

Insert the connector with the cable attached into the crimper.

Push the cable into the back of the crimper until it cannot go any further.

Squeeze the handles of the crimper until you hear a small crunch.

Look at the base of the connector and ensure you see eight cables with the sleeving around it.

You should be able to see all cables which means your connection is complete on that side.

Repeat steps 1-12 for the connector on the other side of the cable if needed.

The tester will cycle through all connections 1-8.

Verify all connections as one mismatched connection will render the cable non-functional.

The same steps can be used to create an entirely new cable from Cat5/6 cable.
