Моя проблема

This 2010 iMac had a bad hard drive in it. I first saw that it was not booting so I went into the recovery menu and attempted to install macOS. It would not install because of a smart issue. I went to Ifixit and bought replacement parts, I installed these parts and they work perfectly as if the iMac had its stock hard drive if not better.

Моё решение

First I had to takeoff the glass using suction cups, which was pretty easy as the glass was held on by magnets. Then I had to remove the LCD being careful to gently remove its ribbon cables next, I had to take out the old hard drive and disconnect its cables. Next, I had to put the new hard drive in along with its adapter and temperature sensor and then I had to close everything back up, sidenote the LCD appears to be the component of the iMac.

Мой совет

A little bit of advice make sure that you carefully remove ribbon, cables, and carefully place them back in the correct way so that they’re not pinched or cramped because if this occurs, you can have many issues and also too the LCD is the heaviest part of the iMac. Additionally, do not get your fingerprints on that LCD or glass or else it’s gonna look extremely ugly and make sure to wipe them down before you put them together because if there’s any dust it will show.

Thats cool. My friend experienced something like this since we couldn't fix, we just left it like that.

Will encourage him to try this out.

Thanks
