Amazon Fire TV Stick Troubleshooting

Why is there no answers about the power port? Where the power cable goes: the connection has come off? Where can I get it fixed?

My problem is it says can't load data check your connection what do I do?

I looked at all the explanations about the video without sound and none of them apply to me. I set it up with my TV only, and I've actually tried to mute and unmute my TV to see if it would work, but it didn't, and my HDMI is perfectly fine. It has been inspected, and me and my family don't even touch that back there because there is no need. I've checked the settings and messed with the Dolby digital plus on and off and even automatic. None has worked for me. By any chance do you guys know a way to fix it?

I figured it out.

I just completely turned off Dolby digital plus and rebooted it. It was on automatic before so I don't know why it stopped working all of a sudden. This worked for me.

I have triggered d all of these suggestions. After a Comcast system e boot, my SamsungLCDtv does not recognize fire stick...BUT, Comcast ,s system does! New batteries, all around time outs done. This problem is as initiated by a Comcast Initiated supper increase/reboot. But Comcast system & reception on all other devices are fine. Need help on reinstallation. Followed initial procedure and other install suggestions.

power up. My screen shows only the " Search Icon - Home - Your Videos - TV - Apps - Settings. All in the top of the screen. I click on Home nothing opens up, Click on Your Videos, nothing, Click on TV nothing. Click on Apps nothin. Then I click on Settings it opens up. I can go through all the steps and get into Exodus and watch a movie. I have Kodi Jarvis 16.1. I wanted to update to Kodi Kypton 17.0 and then go up to version 17.3. My problem is I can't get anything to work I could upgrade Kodi! Have any ideas to help me?

when the unit warms up, any button I press causes a reset back to the home screen. I press a button and it restarts again. I'm guessing the unit is shot.

my main LG T.V doesn't produce any sound from the T.V or the LG surround sounds system when using the fire tv stick. to the lg surround system I'm using a optical lead. all works through my sky system. took the fire stick to my other LG t.v in the kitchen with my Bose surround sound and works fine on both setups? going back to the main lounge t.v I have unplugged the sky box connection and surround sound so it is just the stick plugged in but still nothing. unplugged and reset t.v and again nothing.. what am I missing any ideas please??

Go to HOME- SETTINGS - DISPLAY & SOUNDS - AUDIO - DOLBY DIGITAL OUTPUT - DOLBY DIGITAL OVER HDMI is what should be checked off - been playing with it with different settings and got my sound to work using this finally - Amazon Prime Movies would not play sound no matter what - this is the fix!

I have to continuously restart my fire stick as it keeps crashing with various different problems that effects all installed apps also sometimes does not respond to remote control even with new batteries only removing the mains power and reconnecting the power clears the problem for about a hour then again the remote fails to function and again I have to remove mains power the stick also seems to get very hot even when in sleep condition

Unplugged my TV and fire TV stick to move to a new TV stand. When I plugged it all back in I now have no audio. I am now getting a message that says I need to plug into “the Audio 3 jack for DVI". My fire stick worked for about 3 months then it started shutting down and restarting every 3 or 4 minutes. I figured out that it was overheating if I let it cool completely (stuck it in the freezer) it would run for about a half an hour then do the reset thing again. I opened it up and the circuit board has a large flat piece of metal that is supposed to be a heat sink it obviously isn’t large enough. I stuck as many as would fit on the heat sink in the fire stick (you have to leave the case off) and watched 4 hours of movies without interruption. I unplug the power cord when I’m not using it so it doesn’t have a chance to overheat when I don’t need it.

I'm trying to watch cable news live and it's a marathon of try this and that. I can't just select live tv 99% of the time. It either plays audio of the radio and business shows or echoes or double speaks the audio. It even plays the sound when I exit the app until I select another one or go to settings. Very weird. I have rebooted, disconnected the fire stick, reset the app, cleared the cache (& data once-never again - too much hassle for it to still not work) and launched it from the home screen app settings. I'm about to give up on it and just play the day old show. I'm stubborn though. I want it to work!

Ok cannot find answer ANYWHERE maybe you can help. Once in a blue moon my firestick just resets itself like its brand new. Did it again last night (which is a pain bcuz u have to redownload EVERYTHING) NOW it will NOT reset at all. Keep getting cannot update try later. If you don't use the proper power chords for your fire stick 2nd generation can it mess it up? I am using a small cord that connects to my fire stick and plugs USB into the TV. I don't know if it's the right one for the fire stick is it safe to use?

I am having intermittent issues with HDMI. TV tells me there is no connection, and then randomly it will work, and then again unexpectedly lose connection…often in the middle of a program. Wouldn't be so bad if I could determine the problem.

When plugging stick into laptop, it doesn't recognize it…is it stick or is it TV HDMI? Any other way to determine this if I have no other device to plug into my HDMI ports?

I've had to firestick since last Christmas in about 6 months ago they stopped working. No apps work, no links work, nothing will download or install. My WiFi is very good and I don't know what's wrong. Just stopped working one day, bought firestick so I can watch Netflix on my TV another way :-(

I do have a solution as i ran into the same exact problem as you guys. I will definitely say that just because this way works, it shouldn't have to be this way. You should just be able to hear it through your television. what I did was I connected in the settings menu my fire stick to a Bluetooth speaker and it works like that. I bought an oontz angle 3 for $25 off Amazon and I use that. I'm sure any Bluetooth speaker would be fine. That's really the only solution to the problem. I'm upset that Amazon would put out a product that doesn't play sound through certain TVs, but on the other hand, my Bluetooth speaker sounds a !&&* of a lot better than my TV ever did. I keep it right on my nightstand in my bedroom so I don't have to have the volume cranked to hear the television. Good luck

The problem is after awhile the screen will go blank and say, no internet connection, retry again.even though my internet strength is strong.we of course reset our modem and also try unplugging the firestick. My Firstick may as well as be as piece of plastic, it doesn’t do S#&T.

I plug it into my TV. I attach the power cable and then put the batteries in the remote and nothing. Whenever I try to put my TV source to the correct port, it shuts the port off and sends me to another source. The remote (yes, the batteries are good and inserted correctly) has no effect when ever I try to ‘power’ the firestick.

I tried plugging it into my laptop, no response. Not even a ‘New Hardware detected. A promptly tried it on another TV., no luck. All of the videos I find just say ‘plug it in and follow the on-screeen insructions…” I’m not getting anything but black screens!

it took me a while to figure mine out. When the system setup my remote, I would get the volume scale (up and down) to work but there was no sound. After I went remote setup a few times I clicked yes when I got the volume scale again even thou I did not have sound. I added Hulu to my home screen so I could at least get to the system settings. Under systems go to Display & Sounds. Scroll down to Audio and select. Select Surround Sound and change from best available to Always Dolby Digital.

The above corrected my no sound issues on my firestick so I had sound from the tv. Hope this helps someone else as well.

If you get the Amazon logo and then just a blank screen, then the power adapter is defective. Replace the power adapter, keep the power cord, and it should be fine. Mine lasted for 2 yrs before going kaput.

My fire stick will not select anything on the screen. I can move around to apps or other selections but can not select anything. It makes the clicking sound that I selected it and “shows” that clicked on it by moving on the screen but it will enter the app , setting or anything. It just sits, no spinning or buffering. I have a amazon firestick which has been working fine up to now. I usually watch ITV on the ITV hub +, and watch the live ITV1 feed. but the other day when i put it on it was still showing a couple of frames from the previous days feed , looping over and over again. I have reset the firestick, force stopped the app, cleared the cache and cleared the data, but still not working. If i put ITV 2 or 3 or any other ITV live channel on it works fine, it is just the ITV1 fee that has not refreshed. I cannot uninsatll the ITV hub + app , and reinstal it again as it does not show on the app list in the settings. Any help would be much appreciated as i am tearing my hair out.

Recently reinstalled a firestick after redecoration, the screen comes on with an instruction on how to use ‘Alexia‘, with a continue tab in the bottom r/h corner. Regardless of what buttons are pressed on the remote this screen will not change. after about 10 minutes the screen automatically switches to a ‘Screen Saver’ option. This consists of a continually changing, full screen, saver photograph with the instruction to go to settings to select, there is a setting tab (three horizonal line within a circle) in the lower r/h corner of the screen. Pressing this on the remote has no effect. How do I get my previously working Fire Stick service back?

Why do some TV shows let you speed through commercials and other shows make you watch all the ad? Makes it kind of useless if you have to watch all the ads. Direct TV was better than this.

I have gen 2 fire stick with alexa voice remote. I have everything plugged in correctly and all I can see on my TV screen is the word Amazon. I can't navigate anywhere. I've done the factory reset and everything it tells me to but no fix

My firestick keeps cycling. I keep getting the message that it is optimizing storage and applications and that it will take 10 minutes. It goes through that process, the firestick logo appears, then it returns to the optimizing storage message again. I have turned it off for 15 minutes, turn it back on and it is back to optimizing.

I get the fire stick logo, then my screen goes blank for several minutes, then I get a menu bar across the top of the screen l, which I can toggle over to select settings but when I hit SELECT, my screen goes black again and we start all over from the beginning.

I have been reading about how to fix the battery draining issue. I get a good 2 days out of the batteries... called and its not in warranty anymore. The replacement remote seems to be the same price as a whole new fire TV stick... will replacing the remote help or will I continue to have same issue ? Should I just replace the whole device?

Hi! I added an external Flash Drive to side load various APK’s. I deleted and then reinstalled an APK to the external drive, but now there is a “Ghost” tile of the APK on the Firestick home screen. (Not in the All App list). Any way of fixing that, you think?

Fire Stick works well, remote communicates well. Then, I use the remote to turn off the TV. The next day, when I attempt to turn the TV on, the remote turns the TV on and I get a “no signal" message on the TV. I have to unplug the power source from the Fire Stick, wait a short time (15-30 seconds), and plug in again (re-boot?) to proceed normally. What's going on?

Have to reset my fire stick everyday

I just replaced my TV with a similar one in the same location. the firestick device loads up on the tv but it says it will not connect to wifi in the same location it was before I changed tvs... placing my phone next to the firestick shows a strong signal from the router. What could I do next???

So I had an issue where the TVs in my apartment saw a connection but no screen came up. Did what an earlier comment said. Powered down TV, plugged in powered up firestick. Waited 15 or so seconds then powered up TV. Voila stick working again correct.
