For when the laptop has cracks in it or has any kind of damage to the exterior

If the back of the laptop is cracked or damaged in any way, this guide will help you replace it

This usually occurs when the device is dropped or the screen is flexed past its breaking point. It can also occur if something is banged against the screen, or if you shut something hard in between the screen and the keyboard.

To avoid this, protect your device by carrying it inside of a protective laptop sleeve.

For when the laptop does not playback audio correctly

The auxiliary port in your laptop contains metal contacts which transmit electrical signals to and from your device. Over time, these contacts can become worn or dirty, causing a weak signal which can result in poor sound quality. You can try to clean any stray debris from the port with a cotton swab. If this doesn't work, you can try replacing the port.

The speakers in your laptop take in electrical inputs and translate them into vibrations which emulate sounds from your device. The connecting wires which transmit to the speakers can sometimes fail, leading to malformed signals or in worst case scenarios, no signal at all. In this case, you will need to solder new wires to the speaker, or replace the entire part.

For when the keyboard doesn’t respond properly or there are keys that are broken or missing.

If some of the keys are broken or stuck, it may be because the keyboard itself is dirty in which case you can remove the keys and clean them that way.

If there are keys that are missing or broken, you will need to replace them.

For when the power button does not do anything

There are a number of reasons why the laptop is unable to power on, ranging from a dead battery to a broken power button. The most severe reason this could happen is because of a fault in the motherboard itself. If you exhaust all other possible causes and are still left with a laptop that does not power up, you can try to replace the motherboard.

For when the laptop does not cool itself sufficiently during operation

To facilitate cooling of your computer’s CPU, a large metal surface is attached to allow more heat dissipation. In extreme cases, this heatsink can conduct so much thermal energy that it causes structural deformation. If this occurs, the heatsink may need to be replaced.

For when the trackpad does not make the cursor move correctly

The capacitive resistors which track your fingers movement on the trackpad can sometimes become worn, leading to low sensitivity and making it harder to move the cursor accurately. In this case, you will need to replace your trackpad.

For when the battery level is dropping at a rapid rate without purposefully running power draining apps

Before trying to fix or replace the battery, try restarting the laptop, changing power settings, turn off peripherals, and disable graphical features.

If the battery will not hold a charge even after exhausting all software options, you will need to replace the battery.
