Will I loose my data if I switch the motherboard?

I have two iphones 3gs. One is unlocked and another is locked. I have been using the unlocked iphone for quite a while and its volume and power buttons fell out. the housing is also pretty worn. the locked one still looks good. My question is, will i loose my data if i just switch the motherboard from the unlocked phone to the locked one and if not, are there anything wrong that can result from just switching the motherboards?

Solomon, you will retain the data for each one of the phones on their individual logicboards. So in your case, the data for the unlocked phone will remain on that logicboard and vice versa

Best thing to do is to just fix the loose button by taking off the back plate and shimming with a piece of paper and then hardening it with a tiny drop of superglue. the reason it comes loose is because many people press the button much harder than necessary.
