My nephew had the ipod in his backpack took it to school and found out later that he had cracked the screen. Well now I have inherited the problem of fixing it, so I was wondering if anyone had repaired one themselves and how hard it was or if it would be worth it to get another one.... or if you know the best way of going about this....thanks

Here's the ifixit guide for installing the Display.
I would say it's quite easy to damage the iPod, have a look and see what you think.
