no video after lcd/inverter replacement

A customer brought me her 2007 MacBook (white) with a broken screen. I bought a new LCD and proceeded to replace it. After the install, I powered up the unit and got a flicker of light on the left side of the screen and a fizzing noise. The video immediately faded to black. Now on start up, all I get is a black screen. To my knowledge, I do have external video. As well, I reset the PRAM and power management.

UPDATE: Replaced inverter board. I now get faint image and can the brighten (F2) symbol when I press the button. However, this still does not solve my issue.

What next?

Thanks!

Update 2: I have plugged in just the video cable to the logic board and all I get is dim video.

Carefully check the original inverter cable to see if the cable skin is damaged. If so there' a possibility of a short in the hinge and a damage to the logic board inverter circuitry. It happens if the unit is dropped or if the inverter cable is pinched in the hinge. The MacBook screen lightning system is simple. Power goes from the logic board inverter socket to the inverter board via the inverter cable. The LCD display backlight gets its power from the inverter board so if the inverter cable, the inverter board, the LCD backlight are functional then the logic board can be the culprit. You have to test if there's voltage going out of the logic board inverter socket.
