Fingerprint sensor not working
I tore the home button flex cable just a bit and now the Touch ID doesn't work. It's still the original home button and assembly. If I replace just that home button cable that is taped to the screen shield will that solve the problem allowing the Touch ID to work again?

Can a replacement cable fix this problem? I've seen them for sale online and wonder if removing the torn one from the original Home button and attaching a replacement will fix this?

If you do replace with a knock off home button meaning not original. You cannot restore it it will throw in iTunes error code. Also there is a chance that the microphone for Siri and dictation will not work. Also when your phone sleeps when you press the home button sometimes it will do nothing. Will not wake the screen up

Why is it that when I don't have the original home button, it doesn't work and even when I buy new original home button onto my iPhone it still doesn't work?

Because there is only one original home button to your phone on this planet, you can’t buy another home button and call it original. If you lose it you lose Touch ID forever.

Do a DFU restore and your touch ID will work again. Re
installs firmware on device as factory and will start reading again. Works for screen problems and touch id sensor. Does not have to be original.
