Hello - I cannot seem to find any instructions online for how to replace the battery door cover for my Canon 580exii. I had batteries corrode and ruin the receptors on the cover. I have a new cover but I'm not sure how to access the pin to release the old cover. Do I need to open the entire unit up?

It shows an exploded view of the the Battery case Assembly - Disassembly.
On the next page (click the next link page on the bottom of the page) it has illustrations which may help you.

Hi Jayeff - thanks so much for your help. Would you say that indicates I have to take the whole thing apart to get to that pin? Maybe that's best left to the pros. Not sure I want to open it. Not to mention the screws are taunting me with stripping.

Not being able to actually see the camera it is a bit difficult to work it out from the manual as to what has to be done.
There's an old saying that applies in this instance - If in doubt, don't!
