Will Not Read Discs.
I am repairing a PS3 for a customer. It is an 80GB model with 2 USB ports. The customer said that it would not read games, but I took it home and played two different games fine. I took it to the shop a few days later, and it would not read discs at all, I never hear it spin up or anything. I then took a look at it again another day, and it would play a DVD movie, but did nothing with the PS3 game. After that, it wouldn't read any discs at all. I swapped out the Bluray drive, and it still does not read anything. I see the clock in the top right spin once and nothing happens.
Is there something else I can try, or is it more possible it is a bad motherboard? Or does the controller board have something to do with all disc reading? I have tested the hard drive with SeaTools using a computer, and it passes.
