older screen on a newer body (inverter to logic board cable help)

Hello.

I was recently given a MacBook Pro 15" Core 2 Duo Model: A1260 with a broken screen.

I already have a Macbook Pro 15" Core Duo Model: A1150

I decided to see if i could put the A1150 screen on the A1260.

The result is that everything fits except the inverter to logic board cable has a different wire configuration and logic board connector. The inverter side appears to be the same (aside from the different wire configuration).

Can i use the A1260's inverter cable with the A1150's inverter? I believe it will fit but the wires will be in a different orientation. Does this matter?

I'm hoping i used all the right terminology.

Thank you very much for any advice.

With Mac's

if it doesn't fit it doesn't belong (won't work). There are board speeds and voltages, Graphic Card speeds and voltages,

If all the numbers on the back of the displays match that's one variable, the other is the output of the graphic card and inverter, a second and third variable.

Rather than blowing up a working unit by cobbling I suggest just get the proper screen.

Remember to return and mark accepted the answer that best solves your problem.

Good luck,

N

Thanks for taking the time mate. Great site here!

I figured as much but wanted to hear it from someone who knows what they're talking about before spending $200 - especially if there was an easy way around.

Cheers,

Ben
