Is the glass in this part, iPhone 3GS Front Panel Assembly - Product code: IF142-003-1, the same quality as the original iPhone glass? I was quite surprised when I first bought my iPhone at the "smoothness" of the glass, and really hope this replacement is the same.

First off, I do not work for ifixit nor am I related to anyone that works for ifixit :-) just a customer of ifixit. I am convinced that ifixit quality is at least as good as the original iPhone. I have not heard anyone ever having had a real issue with anything they purchased on here, and ifixit stands behind their products. So give it a try and I am certain you will not be disappointed. Thanks. I've ordered the part, and will soon find out how well my old hands and bad eyesight do on replacing this. The instructions here on iFixit make it look pretty easy, and it's well worth the savings over what Apple charges to replace the glass.
Just take it slow and steady... Read and re read the guide before you jump in. We all have to start somewhere and this repair is pretty straightforward...probably the best guide out there.nevermind the old! I did it... Anyone can
