Try entering BIOS and look at the boot order, the CD option might not be on or could be lower in the boot order than the hard drive

How do you do that on a Mac?
Pres and hold CMD, OPT, “O” and "F"
What is OS and the CD/DVD disk Apple's or your own created disk?
We also need to know what your exact model is as Apple changed the optical drives.
