Black dust during use

Hi there. When using my nutribullet black dust comes out from what appears to be under the base. There is quite a lot and it coats the entire bench and everything in the vacinity of the unit. Can I fix this. My NutriBulletRecipes is no longer in warranty

Hi @chan18 ,

I think that the black dust is coming from the carbon brushes that may be nearing the end of their life and are starting to break apart..

Here’s a link to a video that shows the dis-assembly of a Nutribullet.

I’ve attached images taken from the video which show the motor brush holders.

At 2.03 minutes into the video you can see the brush holder with the black wire attached to it. (to the left of the fan).

At 2:08 minutes into the video you can see the other brush holder on the other side of the motor, with the blue wire connected to it.

The big problem is to find suitable replacement carbon brushes. Searching online seems to indicate that Nutribullet does not offer brushes as a replacement part. At least none that I could find.

If you can work out the dimensions of the brush (H x W x L) by measuring the brush holder and the distance to the commutator, you might be able to get suitable replacements from places such as this.

I've just noticed that this has started to happen to mine. I did take the majority of it apart but was wary of disconnecting any wires. I don't suppose you managed to find replacement carbon brushes or know what size I might need? Any help very much appreciated! Cheers!

Hello i had this issue as well. It was not the brushes , under the black cover under the bottom of the base there is a cooling fan blade made of plastic, the nut holding this on has unscrewed itself and the dust being created is the fan blade rubbing on the plastic cover because it has dropped lower. All you need to do is tighten the blade nut and put back the cover and all is fixed.
