How/where to fix a Chipped Bottom keyboard of Lenovo Ideapad 110

Hello,

My laptop is fairly old and has been through some tiny drops but recently it fell off a table onto the concrete… there is a fairly decent chip that has come off of the bottom where the power button is and I can see the internal hardware. Is it worth even going to get it fixed? Also where to fix it? The screen and keyboard still work, I’m more worried about stuff getting in there or it breaking more.

Any help would be much appreciated :)

Hi,

If you have an IdeaPad 110-14ISK or 110-15ISK then if it is the upper case where the problem is, here’s a link to the service manual for your laptop.

Scroll to p.56 to view the necessary pre-requisite steps and then the procedure to remove/replace the upper case.

On p.71, item #3 you find the part number(s) for the upper case. (FRU number)

If you search online using the appropriate part number only in the search box of your browser, you’ll get results for suppliers of the part.

This may help you to decide if you wish to replace the part or not ;-)

If its not a very big chip I wouldn’t bother. If it’s medium sized DO NOT IGNORE IT. I made the same mistake with my laptop and It quickly died. I would think the best place to fix it would be where you brought it *do they do repairs where you purchased it?* Also noting what I said earlier if it’s not that big nothing can get in. The worst that can happen is it may freeze for a few moments during the boot up. If its big get it fixed as soon as possible.
