My Laptop Suddenly Died
I have a HP pavilion x360 14-ba163tx that I bought last year. I had no problems using it and I'm happy with my laptop.
Until last week.
On Wednesday, I turned on my laptop, charged it and used it to check a windows 10 update. After that, I put it on hibernate and put it back in my bag.
2 days later, I tried to turn it on but the boot logo won't show up. The LED power indicator turns on but then it turns back off. I plug in it's charger thinking it ran out of power. The charging LED also turns on. I tried turning it back on again but the screen still stays black. Then I noticed the fan and HDD running and the power indicator turns on for a little bit before they suddenly stop and start again by themselves over and over again until I manually turn my laptop off by holding the power button.
The next day, I brought it back to the store that I bought it from and they said it was the motherboard. I was very confused, because it worked fine on Wednesday and I didn't even turn it on until Friday night. They said the HDD, RAM and SSD still works.
I also don't really use my laptop that often nor do I use it for heavy programs. Only some like, Skyrim, Sims 3 & 4, Adobe Lightroom, Office and surfing the web. I also undervolted it so that it will run cooler while being stable because back then the laptop would get hot even when using it for surfing the internet.
My warranty ended last month and they said replacing it is basically buying a new laptop. I want to know what happened to my motherboard that suddenly died after one year. I had an acer laptop 3 years ago and it's still running smooth. I'm confused as to why my HP laptop died only after 1 year.
Any idea what happened and what I should do? I sent an email to HP but they haven't replied yet.
Thanks!

A similar thing happened to me, with my HP 250 laptop. It suddenly and unexpectedly died on me after just one year. And right after the warranty expired. It was working fine just before that. I suspect that HP systems have a deliberate kill switch in the motherboard forcing you to buy another one.

Yeah I'm sick to death of this problem!! My hp laptop is just over a year old, only ever used by me for writing (I live alone) ... and yet it keeps randomly switching itself off while I'm working. It goes DEAD - even the light doesn't come on when plugged in. It then stays dead for a day or two, and if I leave it alone completely, at the very least overnight, I can then switch it on next day (or after a day or two) and hope for the best. How am I supposed to keep my job this way? And because the warranty is only for one year, they're not going to do anything about it. Why should we pay for Unreliable??

Yep, I have a 360 15 that’s doing the same thing, after only 1.5 years of working. I’ve been informed by a friend that I got lucky with my two previous HP laptops, as both of them lasted about 7 years each, and doing an online search with this issue I understand why. I’ll never buy another HP.

What is the full model number of the laptop as shown on the product info label on the bottom of the laptop?
What have you tried to do to fix it?
Don't give up so easily as there's a few things that you can try to see if you can get it going again
