Samsung EVO SSD wont start up neither mount
Hello,
Here’s my story: I upgraded my 13” MacBook (2012) like 2 years ago with a Samsung EVO SSD 500 GB..
I encounted problems like a year ago that was the caused by the hard drive cable that I replaced and since then it worked until last Friday.
Now suddenly I opened my MacBook and it freezes, I pushed the power button to shut it down and restarted and was welcomed with a folder with a question mark, what I think means that the system can’t find the OS or the Mounting point on the SSD. I want to get access to my files so that is what I tried so far:
- I tried internet recovery - disk utility and it shows the SSD but I can’t operate First-Aid, neither repair permission.
- I opened the MacBook and remove the SSD to use it with my USB 3.0 dock to mount it on my other Mac but it won’t mount as well it shows up in disk utility so also here I can’t perform first aid.
- I connected the MacBook through target mode with my other Mac but just get the message The disk you entered can not be read or something and it gives me 3 options, ignore, cancel or initialize. I choose to ignore since I don’t want to harm more of my SSD.
- I tried to upgrade the OS to Mojave through internet recovery but when i need to choose the disk where to install, the SSD wont show up.
- I really don’t know what else I can try to at least, get access to my files. Any help is appreciated!
