remote showing no signal on my recorder.

My recorder is showing No Signal, I think I have lent on the remote and changers something, it was working the just went to no signal.

Hi It is a Panasonic HDD recorder MODLE NO dmr-hw220 , everything was working , I view the TV through the recorder, everything was working fine, I had the remote for recorder beside me, I think I lent on it as it started saying NO SIGNAL I am not sure what I must have pressed on the recorder remote. I have disconnected the remote and I am back to just watching TV I checked everything, the recorder is/was connected to the TV HDMI 1 , the recorder has power as it shows no signal when connected to the TV ( it has always been connected to TV , I can't get the recorder to do anything other than the no signal.

What is the make and model number of the recorder and the model number of the TV? You only say there is a Panasonic TV

Have you checked that the TV signal input is switched to the correct input that the recorder is connected to on the TV e.g. HDMI 1, HDMI 2, AV1 etc?

Is the recorder showing that it is powered on OK?

What have you checked?

I had the same issue, confirmed that the aerial was fine and signal was coming through the DVR to the TV just fine.

I called Customer Care and was advised to do a factory reset. On my model, this was Function Menu > Others > Setup > Others > Initialize then choose "Shipping Condition". Then turn off the machine, and unplug it for 30 seconds. Plug back in and start, then go through Setup which includes auto tuning. I didn't lose any recorded files on the hard drive.

. I've had the exact same problem and it was found to be various capacitors that had failed. After much searching, I finally found a guy in Tattershall that diagnosed and repaired my unit for £30 (May 2023). As I live in Louth, it was only 23 miles away, but I'm sure that he'd fix any of these units for the extra p&p. His name is Chris Sivill and his business is called "Sivill Service". There's no charge if he can't fix it and will recycle it, if you don't want it returned.

The following is just a process of elimination to see what works and what doesn’t in an effort to find out where the problem may be

Some things to try, ignore the ones that you’ve already tried.

a). Have you tried powering off the recorder to see if this has reset it back to normal after it is switched back on?

Switch off the recorder and then disconnect the power from the unit for about 1-2 minutes, reconnect the power and turn on the unit and check if it works OK.

b). If possible, try connecting the recorder to the HDMI 2 input on the TV (ensure both the recorder and the TV are powered off before you move the cable) and after turning on both units (remember to alter the TV input to the HDMI 2 input) see if there is a signal from the recorder. This is just to prove if the HDMI 1 input was OK or not.

If still no good, if possible connect another device using HDMI to the TV e.g. DVD player or camera with HDMI output and see if this works OK. This is just to prove that the HDMI function in the TV is still OK.

c). Connect the recorder to the TV using an AV connection -user manual p.13 and check if you get signal. Remember to alter the TV input to the appropriate AV input. This is to prove that there is a signal output coming from the recorder.

My problem is that I can play back to the tv and display the program but no signal shows for Live tv

What is the make and model numbers of the TV and the recorder?

Is the live TV signal coming through the recorder or is it connected to a different input on the TV, i.e. signal input - recorder - TV or signal input - splitter - recorder + same splitter different output - TV?
