Replaced the screen on my friend’s phone and everything’s working EXCEPT after it’s been on for a couple hours, swiping up from the bottom (for the control center) and down from the top (for the notification center) stops working.
I plan to open it up and check the connections but I just wanted to see if anyone on here is familiar with this specific issue.

This is most likely a poor quality or defective replacement screen.

i ordered the screen from ifixit, is this known to happen from time to time?
Yes, dud screens will always filter through. Contact iFixit support and they will take care of you.

If you are sure that the screen is a reputed one, remove the screen flex and rearrange and install brackets(assuming if you missed it in case). Lock the flex cable carefully.
