Hi,

What is the model number of the phone if it is not a Uniden D1760?

Have you got an old corded phone that you can plug into the phone socket to check if the phone service works OK, to prove whether the problem is with the phone or with the line?

If not then try the following:

If your phone’s base station is not connected to your internet modem as a VOIP service (voice over internet protocol) but is connected to a phone socket that has a telephone cable connected to it, remove the phone’s base station cable from the telephone socket (also ensure that anything else that may be connected to the phone line is disconnected as well) and then call your landline phone number from another phone e.g. a mobile phone or a neighbour’s phone and check what tone signal you get.

If you get a busy tone signal there is a fault on the line or in the telephone exchange. Contact your landline phone service provider about the problem.

If you get a ringtone signal, use a screwdriver to short out the two telephone wires in the phone socket and check if the ringtone stops.

If it doesn’t stop, then the line is faulty and you need to contact your landline phone service provider.

If it stops then there is a problem with the phone’s cord to the base station, the base station itself or perhaps the phone.

If your phone’s base station is connected to your internet modem, check the status of the phone line light on the front of the modem. It should be on steady.

If it is not on or it is blinking, check the status of the phone service in your modem’s UI webpage or contact your ISP about the problem

Hi,

The same procedure applies.

You need to prove whether the problem is with the phone or the phone line (whether it is over the internet or a direct line).
