LG LFX3192 Sound stops when doors are opened

I have a LG LFX3192 that has become very loud. I can’t determine where it comes from and seems to be freezing and cooling ok. The only way to get it to stop is to open the doors. I find myself opening the doors every couple of hours to get it to stop. What parts should I order to prevent this?

Hi @derf87 ,

Check that the evaporator fan is OK and is running nearly silently.

The evaporator fan is turned off when a door is opened and then is turned on again when the door is shut, so as to prevent the cold air being blown out of the compartments.

I don’t know your model but with most refrigerators the evaporator fan is located near the evaporator unit which is located behind a panel inside the freezer compartment.

Try removing the panel and then with the door open manually operate the door switch which should be in the door jamb to start the fan up again (also turns off the lights in the fridge) and listen if that is where the noise is emanating from.

The fan will run as long as the compressor is running.

Do not confuse this fan with the condenser fan which is used to cool the condenser coils and also the compressor and which is mounted outside the refrigerator compartments.

It seems to be the right fan was the issue but like a amateur installer I forgot the wiring connections. The plugs on the right are easy but the one on the left seems to be wired weird. Where does the yellow with the Blue O guy and what about the yellow one connected to the fan side?

@derf87 ,

I don't know.

I cannot find a schematic diagram or service manual for your model fridge which would show where the wires should be connected to.

Perhaps you could look at the video that is in the evaporator fan part link I posted above to see if that may give you an idea.

I realize that the video is not for your make and model fridge but it still may be of some help.

@ anju Pokharel

What is the make and model number of the refrigerator?

Does the light turn on in the compartments when you open the door?

Does the evaporator fan stop when you open the door?

The reason for all the questions is that the "beep" will only happen if the control board knows that a door is open.

If the answer to the 2nd and 3rd questions above are Yes then it may be simply a problem with the speaker (usually a piezo speaker) that emits the beep or the control board is not generating the beep for some reason.

If the answer to the questions is No then it may be a faulty door switch.
