2 Can I upgrade my MacBook?
I’ll start off with saying I’m a new MacBook user. I purchased this MacBook online for just $20 it needed a charger & battery, so I bought a charger & I’m currently running it with just that. So in order for me to use it, it must be plugged in. But because I know this system is so old I would like to know how I can upgrade to a newer version as iTunes wont allow me to log in for some reason. (I can log in the the App Store) it’s currently running 10.6.8.. I have found a download link to install El Capitan so it’s currently trying to install. I won’t be using it much but it’s nice to know it’s there if I ever needed it. TIA

Wow that’s a lot of information thank you, so I’ve gathered this info from the link
Details: *This system can run the last version of OS X 10.7 "Lion" if upgraded to at least 2 GB of RAM. It is not supported booting into 64-bit mode when running Mac OS X 10.6 "Snow Leopard." It does not support "OpenCL" either. Please also note that OS X Lion is not capable of running Mac OS X apps originally written for the PowerPC processor as it does not support the "Rosetta" environment.
Does this mean that Snow leopard is the latest version I can get without upgrading the RAM? @danj

Sadly, one GB of RAM just won't give Lion the breathing room it needs. So you will need to push the RAM to 2 GB. I also recommend you make sure you have 1/4 of the drive left empty as the OS will also leverage it for Virtual RAM.
