The hard drive in my iPod is making grinding noises

The original hard drive in my 30gb iPod is made by Samsung.Is the replacement Toshiba 30gb hard drive available on this website a direct replacement with the same dimensions as the original Samsung? Will I need different ribbon cables etc.?

It should fit without any problems, It has the same dimension and same connection. I would go ahead ad change the drive cable as well. In the past I had a few that had a bad cable and it was a PITA to diagnose it. Since that time I always change the cable when I change the drive. Good Luck
