I use my Display as second monitor for my iMac, was working and display just shut down, but programs working on the display are not transfer to iMac screen until I; either disconnect the Thunderbolt cable or disconnect power from display, think that means cables and power are working. What can I try to solve this and get display back to work??

You can test if the cable has gone bad by using another Thunderbolt cable. Plug it going out of the iMac and into the Thunderbolt port on the back of the display.
