Can a cmos battery cause my laptop not to turn on?

As of recently my laptop won't turn on and I've been looking for things that could be the cause of the problem.

The laptop is an Asus Rog GL551J and what happened is i left my laptop on hibernate because i was gonna leave for a couple of hours. When it came to turn on my laptop i was faced with a black screen every time i pressed the power button, the power led and other lights turned on but the laptop wouldn't boot up, just a black screen.

I tried to remove the ac and the battery and hold the power button for 30 seconds and reconnect but nothing happened. So i searched and saw that in a nother forum question someone else had the same issue and the answer was to remove the cmos battery and do a hard reset. Can anyone plz help I'm so confused?!
