Hi
I have a strange problem with the power button. Not responding when I want to turn on the macbook. With the system running, it works and allows you to go into sleep mode, but you can't come back from it. The only thing that helps then is removing the battery and inserting magsafe (which starts the macbook).
Macbook has never been flooded.

A long beep was a firmware update which is now quite common when you do OS updates/upgrades. So thats not an issue just leave the system alone so you don’t corrupt it by turning the system off!
I still think we need the CoconutBattery data! Please post it as it will help me figure this out.

Lets give this a try reboot your system as needed and press the D key to enter into diagnostics, Did you get any errors

I tried this.
Holding D on startup goes to Internet Recovery and giving error:

Ok, I finally make a diagnostics.
One error:
4HDD/11/40000000: SATA(0,0)
Well I've got some good and bad news!
This is a known error, but Apple service folks don't understand the true cause! Here's their answer Mac notebooks: Apple Hardware Test may report "HDD" alert I had this TN pulled after having a very lengthly dialog with them years ago.
The issue is a SATA port buffer over flow! This is when you use the wrong SATA speed drive in the system. Most of the time you'll see this with a SSD Vs a HDD as the speed of the HDD being slower (5200 RPM) won't kick the data rate high enough to cause it. A SSHD can as the onboard SSD cache drive can burst the data beyond what the systems SATA port can take in.
Let's look as a model to make this easier to see... You have a glass of water and you suck the water out using a straw you get 100% of the water! Now you go to the garden hose pushing the nozzle into your mouth and turning on the water, clearly you just can't swallow all of the water coming!
So, to fix this you'll need to use the correct drive for your system. This series is only SATA II (3.0 Gb/s) so the drive must be able to support this data rate as an example a fixed speed drive like OWC Mercury Electra 3G SSD or a SSD which matches the systems I/O speed (auto sense) Samsung 860 EVO Note the interface line! It clearly lists the needed data rate 3.0 Gb/s. If the drive you get doesn't list it move on!
So why is this effecting things here? Your system uses space on the drive to extend its memory Virtual RAM as well as caching. If these data spaced get corrupted you can get into some very wacky problems like yours.

The battery is almost new, so I don't think it's causing problems.
I noticed a strange thing. I have uploaded a fresh system. while installing the update, the macbook reset and beep once long.
I found information that the mac is making a long beep when we press the power button while updating the firmware.
