iPad 1 Demo Device?

Hello everyone. I’ve just purchased a used iPad first generation which has some interesting things to it. On the back of the Box it says “iPad WiFi 16GB - DEMO-FRD” and it doesn’t have the same part number as normal ones have. It’s got part number MC642FD/A. But: it doesn’t have the engraving “Demo - not for resale” on the back, it’s just got a normal housing with matching Serial-No. to the box. Does someone know, if this is a real Demo-Device?

Thanks in advance

It sounds like a preview unit which was handed out to a reviewer or writer to compose 3rd party documentation.

A store demo unit would be locked into a preprogramed demo. Apple Store units had real systems which where tethered and locked to the stores WiFi network.

Right, that sounds logical. Didn’t know Apple gave Devices directly to reviewers back in the day.

Thanks!
